Security & privacy FAQ

Which tools never upload my files?

Edit PDF, Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Page Numbers, Watermark, Protect, Unlock, and all conversion tools process everything locally in your browser. No data leaves your device.

What happens during a Magic Scan transfer?

Your phone captures the document and sends it through an end-to-end encrypted relay. The file is available for download on your desktop browser and automatically deleted from the relay after 60 seconds.

Is any file content stored after processing?

No. For local tools, files exist only in your browser's memory and are discarded when you close the tab. For Magic Scan, relay files are auto-deleted after 60 seconds.

How does local browser processing work?

MendPDF uses a compiled WebAssembly (WASM) engine based on PDFium that runs entirely inside your browser. This engine reads, modifies, and saves PDF files without any server communication.

What browsers and document types are supported?

MendPDF works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. The editor supports PDF text editing with full RTL support for Arabic and Hebrew. PDF-to-Word converts to standard .docx format.
