Hebrew text editing in PDF documents

Hebrew requires right-to-left text direction and correct handling of mixed Hebrew-English content. Standard PDF editors often fail with Hebrew because they treat all text as left-to-right, reversing character order or breaking layout. MendPDF detects Hebrew characters and applies the correct direction automatically.

How it works

Automatic detection: Hebrew characters (U+0590 to U+05FF) are detected automatically. Text direction switches to RTL for Hebrew content.
Script-aware fonts: Self-hosted Noto Sans Hebrew with regular and bold weights. Correct glyph rendering without external dependencies.
Mixed-direction text: Documents with Hebrew and English (or Hebrew and Arabic) text render each script in the correct direction.
Direct PDF patching: Edits modify the actual PDF content stream, not an overlay. The result is a real edited PDF, not a screenshot.
