Private PDF tools for healthcare-sensitive workflows

Healthcare teams handle documents that require careful control over file exposure. MendPDF processes core PDF workflows locally in your browser, reducing the need to upload patient-related or operationally sensitive documents to third-party servers.

Why file exposure matters in healthcare settings

Healthcare organizations manage documents that may contain patient identifiers, clinical notes, insurance details, billing records, and internal operational data. Many online PDF tools require uploading these documents to remote servers for processing. MendPDF offers an alternative: core editing and conversion tools that run entirely in the browser, keeping the document on the user's device.

How MendPDF reduces file exposure

Local processing: Core tools use a WebAssembly engine that runs inside your browser. The file is read, processed, and saved on your device.
No server upload for core tools: For editing, conversion, merge, split, compress, and other local-first tools, no document data is transmitted to MendPDF servers.
No document retention: Files exist only in browser memory during your session. Close the tab and the data is discarded.
Encrypted scanning: Magic Scan uses end-to-end encryption for phone-to-desktop transfers. Relay files are automatically deleted after 60 seconds.

Important: MendPDF is a tool, not a compliance solution

MendPDF is designed to minimize unnecessary file exposure. However, MendPDF does not claim to satisfy any specific regulatory framework on its own. Healthcare organizations are responsible for evaluating whether any tool, including MendPDF, meets their own compliance, policy, and legal requirements. Users remain responsible for their documents, permissions, and obligations.

Workflows healthcare teams use

Editing administrative PDF forms without uploading them to a cloud service.
Converting PDF reports to Word for internal review and annotation.
Merging or splitting multi-page documents locally before distribution.
Adding password protection to sensitive PDF files on the user's own device.
Scanning physical documents and receiving them via encrypted relay.
