Local PDF editor for legal teams

Legal professionals handle contracts, NDAs, court filings, and client documents that often cannot be uploaded to third-party services. MendPDF runs its PDF editor locally in your browser so the file never leaves your device.

The problem with uploading legal documents

Online PDF editors typically upload your file to a remote server for processing. For law firms and legal departments, this creates an unnecessary exposure point. Client contracts, privileged communications, court documents, and settlement agreements pass through infrastructure you don't control. MendPDF avoids this entirely by processing the document in your browser.

What legal teams use MendPDF for

Editing contract terms, dates, party names, and clause text in finalized PDFs without re-creating the document.
Updating invoice details, billing statements, and engagement letters.
Making last-minute corrections to court filings before submission.
Converting PDF documents to Word format for internal redlining and review.
Adding password protection to confidential client documents.
Merging multiple exhibits or attachments into a single filing.

Multilingual legal document support

MendPDF supports in-place text editing for English, Arabic, and Hebrew with full right-to-left (RTL) handling. For firms working with multilingual contracts, bilingual agreements, or cross-border documents, the editor correctly handles bidirectional text, script-aware fonts, and mixed-direction paragraphs.

How local processing works

Browser-based engine: A compiled WebAssembly engine based on PDFium runs inside your browser tab. No server communication during editing.
No file retention: Your document exists only in browser memory. It is not stored, cached, or logged by MendPDF.
Incremental save: Edits are patched directly into the PDF content stream, preserving the original document structure and reducing the risk of formatting changes.

User responsibility

MendPDF provides tools for working with documents. Legal professionals remain responsible for verifying that their use of any tool, including MendPDF, complies with their own professional obligations, client confidentiality requirements, court rules, and applicable law.
