Encrypted document scanner

Scan paper documents with your phone camera and receive them on your desktop browser through an end-to-end encrypted relay. The scanned file is automatically deleted from the relay after 60 seconds.

How Magic Scan works

Open on desktop: Visit the Magic Scan page on your desktop browser. A unique QR code is generated with a one-time encryption key.
Scan with your phone: Scan the QR code with your phone camera to open the scanner. Capture your document using the built-in camera interface.
Encrypted transfer: The scanned file is encrypted on your phone before leaving the device. The relay server receives only encrypted bytes it cannot read.
Download on desktop: Your desktop browser downloads and decrypts the file. The relay copy is automatically deleted after 60 seconds.

Why encryption matters for document scanning

Most phone-to-desktop scanning apps store your scanned documents on cloud servers, sometimes indefinitely. For business documents, receipts, contracts, ID cards, medical forms, or anything containing personal information, this creates unnecessary exposure. Magic Scan minimizes this by using end-to-end encryption and automatic deletion.

Security details

AES-256-GCM encryption: Documents are encrypted using AES-256 in GCM mode. The encryption key is generated in your browser and shared only through the QR code.
Server cannot read your files: The relay server handles only encrypted data. It never has access to the encryption key or the document content.
Automatic deletion: Encrypted data on the relay is automatically deleted after 60 seconds, whether or not the file was downloaded.
No accounts required: Magic Scan works without creating an account. No login, no stored history, no cloud archive.

What you can do after scanning

Once the scanned document arrives on your desktop browser, you can open it directly in the MendPDF editor to add text, annotations, or signatures. You can also convert it to Word, merge it with other PDFs, or compress it. All of these tools process the file locally in your browser.

When to use Magic Scan

Scanning receipts and invoices at a client site and editing them at your desk.
Capturing signed paper contracts and converting them to searchable PDFs.
Digitizing ID documents or forms without storing them in a cloud scanning app.
Transferring handwritten notes from a meeting to your desktop for annotation.
