Edit PDF offline and free in your browser

MendPDF provides a full PDF text editor that runs locally in your browser. Edit any text in a PDF document: change words, update numbers, fix typos, without installing software or uploading your file.

What "offline editing" actually means

MendPDF loads a compiled WebAssembly editing engine into your browser. Once the page is loaded, the editor works without any server communication. Your PDF file goes from your device into browser memory, gets edited there, and the result is saved back to your device. The only network traffic is loading the editor itself. Your document never travels over the internet.

What you can edit

Existing text: Click on any text in the PDF to select and edit it. The engine patches the PDF content stream directly, not an overlay.
Font properties: Change bold, font size, and text color. The editor detects the original font properties and lets you override them.
RTL languages: Full support for Arabic and Hebrew text editing with proper right-to-left handling and script-aware font resolution.
Table cells: Edit text inside table cells individually. The editor detects table structure and constrains edits to the correct cell.
Annotations: Add text, draw freehand, insert shapes, add images, and use the eraser tool.

Why it's free

MendPDF's local processing architecture means we don't need expensive server infrastructure to process your documents. The heavy lifting happens on your device, not ours. This makes it possible to offer core editing tools at no cost without compromising on quality or privacy.

No installation required

MendPDF is a web application. Open the page in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge, drop your PDF, and start editing. There's nothing to download, no desktop application to install, and no plugin to configure. The WASM engine loads automatically.
